FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK — Former Fredericton Police Force constable Andrew Savoy has been charged following an independent criminal investigation conducted by the Miramichi Police Force.
According to information released by the Fredericton Police Force, Savoy faces charges of perjury, uttering forged documents, and breach of trust. Authorities allege that the offences occurred while he was employed as a police officer with the department. Savoy served with the Fredericton Police Force from 2023 until his resignation in January 2026.
The investigation began after an internal audit reportedly identified inconsistencies within files handled by Savoy. Following the discovery, the Fredericton Police Force submitted a criminal complaint to the Miramichi Police Force and referred the matter to the New Brunswick Police Commission for review under the Police Act.
Fredericton Police Chief Gary Forward emphasized the organization’s commitment to accountability and transparency, stating that all members, whether current or former, are held to the same professional and legal standards.
The criminal investigation was led by Deputy Chief Randy Hansen of the Miramichi Police Force. Hansen noted that investigators approached the case with the same diligence, professionalism, and objectivity applied to any criminal investigation.
Officials also expressed appreciation for the work carried out by the Miramichi Police Force throughout the investigative process.
Authorities confirmed that Savoy’s resignation resulted in the New Brunswick Police Commission losing jurisdiction over the conduct complaint, leading to the closure of that portion of the review. However, the criminal investigation continued independently.
Andrew Savoy is scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2026. As the matter is now before the courts, law enforcement officials have indicated that no further information will be released at this time.
The allegations remain before the court, and Andrew Savoy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
